Linwen Huang
Linwen Huang is going into her third year pursuing a specialist in Pathobiology, a Major in Chemistry and a Minor in immunology at the University of Toronto. She is currently a summer student in the Santerre lab working on generating a tissue engineered vascular graft using mechanical conditioning and a co-culture of monocytes and vascular smooth muscle cells on a degradable polyurethane (D-PHI) scaffold. This work will ultimately aid in the creation of a tissue engineered vascular graft that will address the clinical need of a vascular replacement in cardiovascular diseases.

Jonathan Yu
Jonathan is a second year DDS student at the University of Toronto. He completed his BSc. (2013) and MSc. (2015) at the University of Windsor in chemistry with an interest in organic synthesis for nanoparticle applications. Jonathan decided to join the Santerre group because it offers the unique experience to explore research in both dentistry and biomaterials. His current project investigates the effects of perfusion rates on gingival tissue engineering. In his spare time, he plays sports, board games, and photography. Timothy Liu
Timothy is an undergraduate Chemical Engineering student at the University of Toronto. He chose the Santerre Lab as he is strongly interested in the fusion of life science and engineering. He came back to the Lab for the second summer to continue his project on dental adhesive. Timothy likes to play basketball and exercise in his spare time.

Christopher Choquette
Christopher Choquette is going into his second year of Engineering Science (EngSci 1T9) at the University of Toronto. He is currently a summer student at the Santerre Lab working with the synthesis, characterization, testing, and optimization of D-PHI polymers as well as other polyurethanes. He chose the Santerre Lab due to its high-quality research for clinically relevant applications of polymers and its entrepreneurship cultivating culture, especially in connecting laboratory-scale chemical experiments to large-scale healthcare applications. As a summer student, Christopher hopes to gain experience with and an in-depth understanding of the creating polymers for use in specialized clinical treatments. As well, he hopes to gain diverse exposure to current biomaterials and biomedical engineering research.
